The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The name Rong Wu refers to the Chinese metallurgical tradition, which preceded and influenced the Japanese one for centuries: the transmission routes of bronze first and steel later passed from the continent to Japan through Korea, especially from the 5th to the 8th century. The Rong Wu Katana pays tribute to this continental heritage.
The blade features the traditional profile of the Japanese katana with sori curvature, but its craftsmanship displays Chinese stylistic influences in the tsuba and the saya. Nagasa of roughly 70 cm.
The mounting carries a transitional palette: bordeaux-red ito (a reference to Chinese imperial purple) braided over dark samegawa, a chiseled bronze tsuba with a four-clawed Chinese dragon motif (distinct from the three-clawed Japanese dragon), a black lacquered saya with golden details in its decorative pattern, and a copper-colored sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
A replica for lovers of trans-Asian history, a decorative piece for rooms with hybrid oriental touches (interiors mixing Chinese and Japanese elements), or a gift for students of Far Eastern metallurgy or travelers who have visited both countries. A katana that carries the trace of a very long history of exchange.
