The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The sakura, the flowering cherry, is Japan's most famous botanical icon: every year, from late March to early May, the entire island becomes a blossoming calendar that begins in southern Kyushu and reaches northern Hokkaido. The hanami, the "flower viewing", draws millions of people to lunches beneath the petals. The Sakura Katana captures this quality of annual botanical celebration.
The Damascus steel blade (58-60 HRC hardness, nagasa of roughly 70 cm) displays layered patterns similar to the veining of petals. The tsuka is wrapped over real ray skin (authentic samegawa) beneath the ito wrapping, a high-quality element found only in fine replicas.
The mounting embraces the hanami palette: powder-pink ito over authentic samegawa, a light alloy tsuba chiseled with a five-petal cherry blossom motif (the classic sakura symbol), a saya lacquered in antique pink with white undertones (petals scattered on the ground), and a dusty-pink sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
A replica for hanami lovers, a decorative piece for elegant rooms or bright entrances with spring-facing windows, or a gift for anyone who has traveled to Japan between March and May. A katana that brings the archipelago's most iconic symbol into your home.
