The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
Owase is a port in Mie prefecture, on Japan's southern Pacific coast: a land of fishermen, tuna fisheries and driving rain. Owase's rainfall is among the highest in the archipelago, which has given it a distinctive identity in landscape poetry. The Owase Katana draws inspiration from this coastal maritime atmosphere.
The manganese steel blade features a purple finish, a chromatic treatment rare in Western replicas: the patina shifts the surface toward aubergine-plum tones, a reference to the color of the fins of certain deep-water fish off the coast of Owase. Nagasa of roughly 70 cm, 58-60 HRC hardness.
The mounting adopts the purple-marine palette: a tsuka wrapped in dark purple ito over samegawa, a dark alloy tsuba with a rippled-wave motif, a saya lacquered in intense purple with deep blue undertones, and a violet sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
A replica for lovers of unusual color palettes, a decorative piece for maritime or coastal themed rooms, or a gift for travelers who have visited Mie's Pacific coast or anyone who favors unconventionally treated blades. A katana that brings the color of the deep sea off a rainy port into your home.
