The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The term reiken, literally "sacred sword" or "spirit sword", refers in Japanese to blades that, according to tradition, possess qualities that are not only material but also metaphysical. Examples include the three imperial regalia (Kusanagi, Yata no Kagami, Yasakani no Magatama), or the blades preserved in shrines as objects of worship. The Reiken Katana places itself within this symbolic family.
The T10 steel blade (60-62 HRC hardness, nagasa of roughly 70 cm) is finished with a high-grade polish. The tsuka is wrapped over genuine ray skin (authentic samegawa), an element traditionally reserved for high-ranking mountings: its natural grain beneath the ito wrapping provides a visually rich texture.
The mounting adopts a sacred palette: royal purple ito over authentic samegawa, a chiseled bronze tsuba with a magatama motif (the sacred beads of Shinto), a saya lacquered in urushi black with golden details in the cord fittings at both ends, and a purple sageo. Burnished gold habaki.
A replica for those who favor ceremonial pieces, a decorative piece for home altars or meditative rooms, or a gift for anyone who has visited Atsuta-jingu (where the original Kusanagi is preserved). A katana that carries a sacred aura within it.
