Kagoshima Wakizashi (T10 Steel)

Above the bay of Kagoshima looms the still-active Sakurajima volcano, which for centuries has shaped the identity of the prefecture and the imagination of its inhabitants. The Kagoshima Wakizashi was born under this sign of fire: a T10 steel blade whose hardness recalls the very intensity of volcanic rock.

T10 steel is particularly prized for premium replicas: its high carbon content (1.0%) and added tungsten give the edge a hardness that can reach 62 HRC while maintaining a compact structure. The nagasa is roughly 50 cm, the blade is entirely hand-sharpened, with a polished finish that reflects light like cooled lava.

The mounting abandons sobriety in favor of a dramatic touch: an iron tsuba with motifs reminiscent of waves of fire, dark red ito braided over authentic samegawa, and a black saya with terracotta-red undertones. The powder-toned sageo adds a soft counterpoint to the whole.
