The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The hoshi is the star seen from earth, a point of light that remains apparently motionless while the whole sky turns. In Japanese tradition, certain stars have proper names: Subaru (the Pleiades), Nanatsuboshi (the Big Dipper), Shichifuku-no-Hoshi (the seven stars of fortune). The Hoshi Katana captures this quality of a fixed, luminous point.
The 1060 carbon steel blade (58-60 HRC hardness, nagasa of roughly 70 cm) is polished with a deep mirror finish that returns, under direct light, point-like reflections: the surface seems scattered with luminous dots, like a night sky captured in a section of metal.
The mounting carries the colors of the night: midnight blue ito over very dark samegawa, a dark alloy tsuba chiseled with a repeated five-pointed star motif (five stars arranged as a constellation), a saya lacquered in deep black with golden dots scattered like a rain of stars, and a silver sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
A replica for lovers of observational astronomy, a decorative piece for low-lit bedrooms (where the dots on the saya can stand out), or a gift for anyone born under a sign tied to a visible constellation. A katana with the stillness of the night sky.
