The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The tsuyu is the dew that settles in the morning on tall grasses and flower petals, forming pearls of water that last only briefly and dissolve at the first sun. It is one of the classic symbols of impermanence (mujou) in haiku poetry, and in Heian-period waka it serves as a metaphor for the tears of separated lovers. The Tsuyu Katana captures this quality of crystalline brevity.
The blade features a composite construction: a central core of T10 steel (60-62 HRC hardness) surrounded by Damascus steel layers with a genuine hamon. Three overlapping types of metallurgy in a single blade. Nagasa of roughly 70 cm.
The mounting adopts the palette of a damp morning: pearl-grey ito over light samegawa, a patinated silver tsuba with a stylized droplet motif, a saya lacquered in light grey with silvery glints (the effect of evaporating water), and a cream sageo. Brushed silver habaki.
A replica for lovers of the literature of impermanence (Yoshida Kenkō, Sei Shōnagon), a decorative piece for minimalist rooms with delicate plants, or a gift for haiku writers and morning yoga practitioners. A katana that brings the quality of a dewdrop into your home.
