The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The ocean holds two natures at once: the calm reflection of its surface and the blind pressure of its depths. The Ocean Wakizashi translates this duality into metal — a blade that shines in the light yet betrays a menacing severity once in hand.
The roughly 50 cm nagasa in 1060 carbon steel features a polished finish that captures the shades of its surroundings: leaning blue in daylight, lead grey in half-light. 58-60 HRC hardness, with a central balance designed for one-handed handling. Entirely sharpened in our workshops.
The ito wrapping the tsuka is cobalt blue, tightly braided over authentic samegawa to evoke the scales of a deep-sea fish. The dark alloy tsuba is engraved with a stylized wave motif (seigaiha), the classic Japanese symbol of the sea and eternity. The saya is lacquered in midnight blue with a matching sageo — a palette that evokes the Pacific waters at dusk.
A collector's piece for those drawn to marine themes, a decorative piece for nautical interiors, a gift for lovers of Japanese painting (Hokusai's waves are echoed in the seigaiha motif), or an elegant companion to a classic-style katana. A blade that carries the sound of the ocean with it.
