Hyourinmaru Katana: Bleach (Blunt 1060 Carbon Steel)

A zanpakutō is first and foremost an extension of its shinigami's soul. That of Tōshirō Hitsugaya, captain of the Tenth Division of the Gotei 13, is the oldest ice dragon in Soul Society. Its four visual elements, taken apart:

The ito: glacial turquoise cotton, braided in crossed layers — the colour of fresh ice on high mountain lakes. The tsuba: golden, octagonal, finely chiselled; its eight sides echo the Water hexagram of the Five Elements, the esoteric backbone of Bleach. The saya: pure lacquered ebony, unadorned — the sobriety befitting a Gotei 13 captain. The sageo: a bright green ribbon hanging from the pommel, recalling the chain that, once released, summons the shikai form.

Hand-forged 1060 carbon steel blade (56-58 HRC). Bankai: Daiguren Hyōrinmaru.
