The blade in detail
Every piece is unique, hand-forged
Description
The yoiyami is the evening twilight, that moment when the sky shifts from deep blue to profound black and the first stars come out. It differs from the yuugure (sunset): while the yuugure still holds light, the yoiyami inaugurates darkness. It is a term used by poets of the night for its threshold quality. The Yoiyami Katana captures this quality of transition into night.
The T10 steel blade (60-62 HRC hardness, nagasa of roughly 70 cm) bears a genuine hamon. The dark mirror polish returns deep black-blue shades, in line with the palette evoked by the name.
The mounting embraces the early night: black ito over dark samegawa, a patinated iron tsuba with a rising-star motif (a single star visible at the upper right), a saya lacquered in the darkest night blue, and a black sageo. Patinated iron habaki.
A replica for lovers of nocturnal atmospheres, a decorative piece for rooms with minimal lighting (a cinematic effect), or a gift for astrophotographers and readers of Japanese noir (Edogawa Ranpo, Kyōka Izumi). A katana that carries within it the moment the day ends.
