Mononoke Katana (Mirror-Polished T10 Steel with Genuine Hamon)

Mononoke are indistinct spirits from Japanese folklore: they are neither deities (kami) nor ghosts (yurei), but manifestations of non-anthropomorphic forces tied to places, animals and forgotten vengeances. The word regained global popularity thanks to Hayao Miyazaki's film, but its roots are far older. The Mononoke Katana captures this quality of non-human presence.

The T10 steel blade (60-62 HRC hardness, nagasa of roughly 70 cm) is finished with a particularly deep mirror polish and bears a genuine wavy hamon which, under certain light, seems to move like a half-transparent creature.

The mounting adopts the tones of an ancient forest: dark green ito over samegawa, a patinated iron tsuba with a primitive mask motif (the stylized face of a tree-dwelling mononoke), a saya lacquered in deep forest green with black glints, and a moss-green sageo. Patinated copper habaki.
