Mikazuki Katana (T8 Steel with Genuine Gunome Hamon and Ray Skin)

The Mikazuki Munechika is one of Japan's five celestial swords, forged in the Heian period by the master Sanjō Munechika. The name means "crescent moon": the blade's characteristic curvature, particularly pronounced, recalls the thin sickle of a three-day-old moon. It is preserved today at the Tokyo National Museum as a national treasure (kokuho). The Mikazuki Katana pays tribute to this illustrious predecessor.

The T8 steel blade (high carbon content, 0.8%) bears a genuine gunome hamon: a symmetrical wavy line made of regular curves, evocative of a sequence of lunar crescents. The sori curvature is particularly pronounced, in faithful reference to the historical model. Nagasa of roughly 70 cm, 60-62 HRC hardness.

The tsuka is wrapped over genuine ray skin (authentic samegawa) beneath dark purple ito, a reference to imperial purple. A patinated silver alloy tsuba with a crescent-moon motif, a saya lacquered in night black with silver glints, and a purple sageo. Burnished silver habaki.
